Thunderbirds Statement Regarding Weekend In Port Huron.
In a statement on social media, Team President and General Manager Scott Brand weighed in on the events of the past weekend.
"There was an unfortunate situation at end of the game last Sunday in Port Huron, MI. Frustrations boiled over and poor decisions were made by several participants involved in the game. We have internally discussed the situation and have expressed our concern with the choice of reactionary avenue that our team took. We currently are awaiting the decision of the league’s discipline committee, they are still reviewing the situation and we are not allowed to comment publicly; We do know that our coaching staff will miss this weekend’s games in Danville.
Our organization is working with the league, to use this as a learning situation for all parties involved in this game. The FHL & Carolina Thunderbirds pride ourselves on being a development league for coaches, players, officials and front office staff. “Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes”- Oscar Wilde. We all look forward to moving past this and focus on the task at hand, getting our T-Birds into the playoffs!"
The Thunderbirds will travel to Danville, Illinois to play a 2-game set against the Dashers. On Friday and Saturday February 2nd and 3rd the two teams will skate.
